BMW X1 SUV (2015 - 2022) xDrive20i xLine 5d Step Auto Owner Review

In their own words
I fully recommend the X1. Be mindful that maintenance isn't cheap, £400 for 2 tyres and nearly £400 for a full service. Parts etc won't be cheap. However if you pick a good example that's been serviced and looked after your on to a winner. I've had my X1 20i xdrive for around a year and she's done me proud, never missed a beat. The fuel economy isn't great but on a long motorway run you'll see mid 30mpg nearly 40. The xdrive system is rather surprising, its definitely not a range rover but in mud and snow I've been so impressed at how the little x1 plods along. The build quality on the whole is very good and fit/finish is as you'd expect from a premium brand. The 192bhp 2.0 petrol engine maited to the 8 speed double clutch auto is a match made in heaven. Smooth precise shifts and bloody good performance for a 2.0! I'm lucky enough to have driven the x1's main automotive rivals through my work and I can safely say for the money the x1 is the most pleasurable and rewarding vehicle in its segment. However if your planning on running the car on a tight budget then I'd advise you steer clear due to servicing and maintenance costs. The tire roar with x1's that have run flats is a known annoyance however its no worse then my pervious financial mistakes like an Audi S4 and Skoda octavia vrs.
If your thinking of getting an X1 then I urge you to do so, there amazing cars and I swear by mine. Just go for one with a comprehensive service history that's clearly been looked after. Also if your not going to do many miles (like me) get a petrol as you'll avoid any dpf and injector issues. If not, get the diesel. The 2.0 diesel is a great engine and its been around for years.
Do your homework and find a good one, you won't be disappointed.
