BMW X5 4x4 (2013 - 2018) xDrive30d M Sport 5d Auto Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Comes with a lot of equipment as standard, and compares well with rivals when comparing finance deals. BMW service has always been nice (we’ve had 5 series/6 series in the past) and the car is always washed and cleaned when we receive it back. Disappointed about the bits of trim though.
We test drove the 40d as well but found it didn’t offer much gain in performance for the increase in price. We also found it to drive more car like the equivalent q7, which my wife found to be too cumbersome. The other big positive is the ‘adaptive suspension’ which came with our car, as it takes the edge off the big 20’ wheels. The reversing camera is high quality, and the auto braking and distance warning is also helpful.
During any drives, the gearbox is responsive (so much more than the volvos) and the engine is punchy enough. My wife drives an S3 but finds the low end torque makes the X5 quicker in town. The steering also seems accurate, and the visibility is good.
How reliable do you find the car?
No problems, but we’ve had squeaky trim on the doors. The gear-lever also squeaks when selecting drive, and sometimes there is a quiet rattle on the dash- disappointing on a 55k car.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Quiet, quick and comfortable. A big step on from our old XC60 D5.About their car
