Economy
Value
Excellent value for money - quick depreciation from new in the first couple of years but holding their value well now. My one was recently valued for the same amount as it was 14 months ago.
Costs
I'm averaging 28mpg and can get up to 37 on motorway journeys if you don't push it on. No major mechanical faults so far.

Driving
Excellent drive - steady and smooth at lower speeds when taking in the sights. Suspension can feel a bit hard and bumpy on uneven roads.
Performance
Great acceleration when you need it throughout the gear range. Top end power is amazing. Cruising at 70 on a German motorway and pushing your foot to the floor in 5th gear will push you back into your seat as you climb to 120 then on to 160mph.

Living with it
Reliability
Starts first time every time in all conditions - no major faults after 6 yeras and 55000 miles
Image
A real head turner all year round - some comments about it being a hairdressers car but this only applies to the 1.9!! Most people I know rate it above a Porsche.
Comfort
Sports seats mould round you and hold you well. Stiff suspension can give you a bumpy ride on an uneven road.

Security and Service
Security
Dead locks, imobiliser and alarm fitted - soft top is however an easy point of entry.
Service
Check your service bill from BMW they can try and slip 'extras' in that weren't required or asked for.
