BMW Z3 Roadster 2.8 2d (1997/R) Owner Review

-
Economy
Value
Not depreciating much, but be wary of prices when the Z4 is readily available.
Costs
Car is thirsty and expensive to insure.

On the road
Driving
Hugely enjoyable in warmer weather with top up or down. Sounds lovely and is very comfy, even on long journeys. It loves the open road, especially dual carriageways where you can really open the throttle.
Performance
Excellent at high speeds and accelerates like a dream from 60 upwards. Not a car for fast cornering however - it's a sports tourer, not a race car.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Have it owned it for one year with no problems as yet.
Image
Avoid common colours like silver. Those in black and red look sexier and get more attention.
Comfort
Beautiful body-hugging heated leather seats will keep you comfortable, and I'm 6" 3". Air con is good.

Security and Service
Security
Alarm and immobiliser. No hassle so far.
Service
Have yet to experience BMW service, but am encouraged by many good reports.

Problems and Ownership
Problems

Other
The pesky plastic rear screen mists up in cold conditions and rear visibility can be very poor.
