Pros & cons
Awesome engine and performance, dramatic looks, well built
Heavy clutch and gear change, cramped cabin, snappy throttle response, stiff ride
BMW Z4 M (06-08) rivals
Overview
The Z4M Coupe and Roadster are the fastest models in the Z4 line-up, powered by a 3.2-litre six-cylinder engine with 343bhp. Compared to other M models this may seem fairly tame but thanks to its light weight the Z4M is still thunderously quick with a 0-62mph time of 5 seconds. However it’s not a particularly easy or relaxing car to drive day to day with a heavy clutch and gear change, over sensitive throttle and a crashy ride.
In fact it’s difficult to justify paying the extra over the standard Z4 3.0-litre, as that is only a little slower but is easier to live with and much cheaper to buy and run. Unfortunately the Z4M doesn’t live up to the standards of the other M models from BMW.
