BMW Z4 Roadster (2003 - 2008) 2.0i SE 2d (06) Owner Review

Successor to my Z3 but incomparably better. Smooth, capable and comfortable for its size, especially since I am well over 6 foot with lengthy legs. Worth junking run flats for normal tyres. As many say, transforms the handling and quietens everything down. So much less jittery on UK roads. Uses a very little oil, but engine stays clean and everything keeps working. I’ve had it for about 3 years and had only trouble free driving for about 12,000 miles. Heated seats and rear windscreen worth it, and leather seats are good quality. Parking sensors are useful. Worth noting that the roof motor is a known weakness so keep the plenum chambers clear. Easy to get the trapped water out by poking a long thin stick down. You can see if it’s trapped just with a look, but you may well hear it slopping around manoeuvring the car at slow speed with the roof down. Best option which I’m glad to have is repositioning the motor in the boot. Boot is fine for weekend luggage for two. Best run to date has been Netherlands, Belgium and France site seeing with my wife over 6 days.About two thousand miles with the only problem being the right hand door mirror glass falling off on a garage forecourt! Happily it didn’t break and a few spots of glue have solved it ever since. Top top car. Get one!
