Summary
What does this car say about you?
Its a super looking elegant car. There are a few more on the roads these days, but its still pretty exclusive and fun to drive.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They all love it. Though ideally you do need a second car if you every want to carry much more than a few shopping bags or take more than 2 people anywhere.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, but a new model that's had all the niggles sorted. I'd rather eat my own feet than go back through all the hassle I've had with this one.
What are you likely to buy next?
I'm looking at a 5 series tourer ideally, or perhaps given the issues I've had with this car, a change of brand given the right deal.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£33,000
When did you buy the car?
December 2010
Did you get a good deal and why?
The deal was ok, its list price was £46,000 and I paid £33,000 at just a year old. It was on at £34,000.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
A car I'd always aspired to own. Looked amazing and really moved.
What was the dealer like?
The dealer was ok when selling the car, but were a little slow when the car developed issues I had to take it back for.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Its a really lovely car, now I've sorted most of the issues. I put this down to the fact its one of the first cars off the line, newer models have presumably been improved. The only negative to the drive is the horrible ride on rough roads, the run flat tyres are rock hard and I intend to swap to normal tyres asap.
What's it like to park?
Easy enough. You can get front and rear PDC to help. Depends how bad you are at parking!

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
A lot. Cracked Wheels, realignment of roof as the prior owner had bumped the car and this was not spotted by the BMW AUC dealer! faulty rear screen, fuel pump failure, DCT box vibration, exhaust flap failure, lots of rattles, various bits of trim not fitting or broke and more. Almost all sorted under warranty but I'm well known by the dealer now having been back there probably 20+ times.
What's most practical about your car?
Its not the most practical car, but the boot is a decent size. But then you don't buy a 2 seat roadster to be practical. Its good enough.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
IDrive by far, lots of stuff in this, not just nav. Online portals, weather, news, speech. Great toy.
