BYD Sealion 7 verdict
Should you buy one?
Attractive looks, a choice of three trims, and a respectable WLTP driving range make this a worthy new addition to the family SUV mix. Space is generous, and so is the standard equipment, with all BYD Sealion 7s coming loaded with everything you could reasonably expect. This makes the entry-level Comfort model look like the pick of the range – although we should be clear that so far we’ve only driven the range-topping version and as yet BYD hasn’t released any pricing.
Family sized electric SUVs is tough class to crack, especially considering it features the current Parkers Car of The Year-winning Renault Scenic E-Tech and previous champion, the Skoda Enyaq. But while our brief first encounter with the Sealion 7 makes it seem unlikely to trouble to the best electric SUVs, if the pricing is right it will certainly a warrant a closer look if you’re simply after something spacious, comfortable and competent.
