Facelift for big Citroens

  • Changes for C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso
  • New engines and exterior tweaks for both
  • Refreshed models will go on sale in October

Following on from the new C4 Hatchback, Citroen has refreshed the C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso models.

There's a raft of changes to the exterior and interior as well as the option of the manufacturer's new low emitting, fuel efficient e-HDi engine.

This new diesel hybrid unit was first available in the C5 Tourer and recently introduced in the C4 Hatch. Mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox the 110bhp engine comes with a start/stop system and regenerative braking system.

On the C4 Picasso this means figures of 125g/km and a claimed economy of 58.9mpg, while on the Grand C4 Picasso it offers 132g/km of CO2 and a claimed 57.6mpg.

Both models are also offered with a new 2.0HDi engine with 150bhp that comes with a six-speed manual gearbox and will achieve 49.6mpg, according to Citroen. Exclusive models are also available with a 160bhp version of this engine and six-speed auto 'box.

The aesthetic changes start on the outside with the firm's new Citroen badge design on the front grille and tailgate. There are also new front bumpers, headlights and rear lights. VTR+ and Exclusive models also get new front LED lights. VTR+ versions also come with chrome side window sills and rear bumper strip.

Inside there are other changes, with VTR+ models getting rear parking sensors, electric folding mirrors, USB socket, 17-inch alloys and Bluetooth. Both cars also get Citroen's eTouch assistance system that means the car can be located via a sim card if you have a breakdown or accident.

Both cars are available from October 1, 2010 with the C4 Picasso starting at £16,345 and the Grand C4 Picasso starting at £17,745.
