Honda has decided to end its production run of the Civic Type R in October (2010) as the 2.0-litre VTEC engine will not comply with strict European emission regulations.
Euro V emission laws come into force in the UK in January 2011 and the current Civic Type R would fall foul of these new rules.
With the end of the road in sight, Honda has reduced the price on the Civic Type R. The Type R GT is now available from £19,495 - a saving of £2,230 - and the new PCP finance offer of 5.9% (over 43 months) means a Type R costs from £235 a month, with a 30% deposit.
This offer covers the Type R GT, Type R LSD and Type R MUGEN 200 models, and runs from now until September 29, 2010.
The three-door Civic Type R will continue to be built in Swindon as the plant will still produce the hot hatch for markets in Australia and South Africa: these are not affected by Euro V emission regulations.
