The Ford Mondeo range has improved fuel economy, lower emissions and stronger performance thanks to a new petrol-injection turbo and an upgraded Ford Duratorq TDCi engine.
New for Mondeo are the turbocharged 200bhp 2.0-litre Ford EcoBoost petrol engine and improved 2.0-litre TDCi diesels with 113, 138 and 160bhp power outputs.
The 2.0-litre EcoBoost has an advanced combustion system and features lightweight all-aluminium construction, the latest-generation high-pressure direct-injection system, low-inertia turbocharging and twin-independent variable cam timing.
Compared with the previous Mondeo 2.3-litre automatic, CO2 emissions are reduced by 19% while the new Mondeo EcoBoost delivers 25% more power.
To meet Euro emissions regulations, the Duratorq TDCi engine has been revised. With a standard six-speed manual transmission it achieves emissions figures that were formerly only attained by the Mondeo Econetic. With Econetic technologies delivering fuel consumption of 53.2mpg and an average CO2 emission of 139g/km across the diesel Mondeo range, there is no longer a dedicated Econetic model.
Ford PowerShift - the six-speed dual-clutch transmission system - also comes to the Mondeo range. Prices for the Mondeo five-door start at £18,995.
