The new 188bhp four-cylinder diesel engine, for both models, offers an 11% increase in torque and improved performance over the existing engine. Carbon dioxide emissions are down by an average of 15% and official combined fuel economy is boosted from the outgoing models' 28.8mpg to 33.2mpg, The drop in CO2 emissions means that Pathfinder drops two tax bands.
There'll also be a new direct injection V6 turbodiesel in the line-up. Power output is 229bhp while maximum torque of 550Nm is delivered at 1,750rpm and is available all the way to 2,500 rpm, while as much as 500 Nm is available from 1,500 rpm.
Prices for the V6 diesel engine will be announced at a later date with deliveries starting in September.
Both models get a subtle rejig with a new bonnet and grille, along with redesigned headlights and two new body colours are available: slate and, for the Navara only, electric blue.
Inside there's new trim and fabrics for the door panels, centre console and seats. There's a clearer dashboard display, extra concealed storage tray and reworked switchgear. A simple-to-operate speed limiter has also been incorporated into the cruise control of the Tekna models.
