Lamborghini Sesto Elemento

  • New Lamborghini tips the scales at only 999kgs
  • Based on Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera
  • Light weight means 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds

A few years ago Lamborghini unveiled the Reventon - a carbon-fibre batmobile based on the Murcielago. This year the Italian sports car maker launches another stripped-out carbon-fibre-bodied supercar called the Sesto Elemento.

Of course it's stupidly fast but Lambo says the real talking point is the weight. Basically, it doesn't weigh much - just 999kgs. With 570bhp the power-to-weight ratio is just 1.75kg per horsepower which means it can get from 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds.

It's based on the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera and uses a 5.2-litre V10 engine. It has all the usual performance car traits: lots of interior carbon fibre, a racing steering wheel, bucket seats, a paddleshift gearbox and few creature comforts.

The new Sesto Elemento is available to buy now.
