Volkswagen has replaced the SE trim on the latest Golf with the familiar Match name.
The new variant adds more than £1,600 of extra equipment but costs just £300 more than the outgoing trim.
Currently the SE's trim includes ABS, ESP, seven airbags, climatic air-conditioning, alarm, cruise control and multi-device interface for connectivity to iPod or MP3 player. In addition to this, the Match trim gets 16-inch alloy wheels, leather multifunction steering wheel, DAB digital radio receiver, Bluetooth system, front and rear parking sensors and a touchscreen stereo with six-disc CD autochanger.
The Match will also get the 2.0-litre TDI 138bhp engine with BlueMotion technology, averages 66mpg and emits 114g/km of C02 emissions. This is thanks in part to its Start/Stop system. The other engine choices that were available on the SE line-up are carried over.
Volkswagen dealers are also offering the option of a three-year/30,000 mile £250 fixed price servicing deal which saves customers money as well as giving them peace of mind against routine servicing costs.
Prices for the Golf Match start from £17,730 for the 1.4-litre three-door model. It's on sale now and deliveries will begin at the end of June.
