BMW had a party with the world premiere of its BMW ActiveE, apparently the next step towards step towards CO2-free mobility.
So here's the facts: The BMW ActiveE is powered by an electric motor developing 170bhp. Based upon the BMW 1 Series Coupe, it has four seats, a luggage compartment with a capacity of around 200 litres, rear-wheel drive and a range of about 100 miles.
Super.
Then there was the European premiere of the new BMW X1 xDrive28i with BMW TwinPower Turbo which marks the birth of a new generation of BMW engines.
The newly developed 2.0-litre engine under the bonnet of the BMW X1 develops 245bhp and when compared to the previous model uses considerably less fuel. It accelerates from 0-62mph in 6.1 seconds and has an average fuel consumption of 36mpg.
Oh, and there was the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Touring Edition with a 163bhp diesel engine. The 320d Touring is sure to be a hit with company car drivers because it's reported to return 65.7mpg and emit just 114g/km CO2.
Also on the BMW stand is a concept vehicle called the ConnectedDrive. This stunning-looking car will seat two but is unlikely to be launched as a production car. The idea is to showcase some of BMW's ‘driver assistance' systems.
