Roaring onto the Peugeot stand were the 308, the 508 and new environmental technologies.
The 308 gets a subtle refresh incorporating Peugeot's family design cues on all three body shapes: Hatchback, SW and Coupé Cabriolet. The refreshed 308 will set the benchmark in terms of environmental efficiency. Contributing factors include weight, reduced by 25kg, tyres with ultra-low rolling resistance, redesigned aerodynamics, and optimised engines - four petrol models from 98 to 200bhp and four HDi engines from 92 to 163bhp.
Another clean engine in the segment will be the 1.6 litre HDi FAP 112bhp, equipped with e-HDi stop/start technology - it emits just 98g/km in the 308.
Making its Geneva debut is the new 508 (launched in the UK at the end of April).
With the option of Saloon or SW body styles, a wide choice of economic petrol and diesel engines are available from 112 to 204bhp. This makes the 508 is a serious contender to the Ford Mondeo.
Green technology was a major talking point with the 3008 HYbrid4, the world's first Diesel Hybrid was shown on stand.
Due to be launched from mid-2011, the 3008 Crossover, is powered by a 2.0 HDi FAP163bhp engine driving the front wheels and an electric motor with a capacity of 37bhp at the rear sets the scene for 4-wheel drive. This gives a maximum power output of 200bhp, a "zero emission" mode and standardised average fuel consumption of 74.3 mpg.
