Land Rover has revealed details of what it claims to be the most luxurious Range Rover ever, which is called the Autobiography Ultimate edition.
The range-topping model gets a handcrafted leather interior, separate electric rear seats, a rear console with an aluminium laptop table, a drinks chiller and two Apple iPads mounted in the headrests as standard, just in case it wasn't well equipped enough.
The rest of the interior benefits from leather-trimmed door cards, a leather dash top and steering wheel, and wood veneer on the fascias and door tops. The upmarket design continues into the boot, where the floor is lined with teak and detailed with metal and leather.
On the outside the Range Rover will be available in dark red or grey, comes with body coloured door handles, and a dark grey grille and side vents. It also gets unique 20-inch alloy wheels and tailgate badging. Customers can pick from further options that include an exterior trim pack and deployable side steps.
Two engines are on offer - a 4.4-litre V8 diesel with an eight-speed gearbox and a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 petrol. The diesel delivers 309bhp and 700Nm of pulling power, while being able to average 30mpg, and 0-60mph takes 7.5 seconds. Emissions have been improved, down from 253g/km of CO2 to 217g/km. This means road tax falls from £425 to £245, while showroom tax drops from £750 to £550.
The supercharged petrol V8 churns out 523bhp and 625Nm, propelling the two-and-a-half tonne Range Rover to 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds. Average economy is an alarming 19mpg, while the V8 emits 348g/km of CO2 - resulting in road tax of £435 and showroom tax of £940.
Both variants come with Land Rover's Terrain Response system which helps the vehicle deal with a variety of on-road or off-road driving conditions, while a new hill start assist and gradient acceleration control setting futher strengthens the Range Rover's off-road capabilities.
Standard equipment includes climate control, electric seats, electric windows and cruise control.
Only 500 will be made, with each one being built to order. No price has been announced yet but with the existing Autobiography Black limited edition costing up to £90,000, expect the Ultimate edition to command a hefty six-figure price tag, in the region of £120,000.
