We all have different requirements from a car, but SEAT thinks it’s hit the nail on the head when it comes to what women want from a car with the new Mii by Cosmopolitan.
As you may have guessed, the Spanish car maker has joined forces with women’s magazine Cosmopolitan to create a special edition version of its smallest car – aiming to appeal to the modern woman.
Co-created over the last 18 months between the manufacturer, the magazine’s editors and its readers, the Mii by Cosmopolitan has now been revealed at the 2016 #FashFest fashion show in London, which goes some way to showing just how specifically female-focused the Mii by Cosmo is.
Described to be a “bold, personal ally for the driver” by SEAT global marketing director Suzanne Franz, the Mii by Cosmopolitan has been “designed to meet women’s needs in terms of daily usage.”
This isn’t the first time SEAT has created a fashion-focused special – the Mii by Mango was a similar conception when it debuted in 2014. The Cosmo follows this trend.
Design, functionality and conception
We had the opportunity to get behind the scenes and understand the design process that brought the Mii by Cosmopolitan to fruition and what it is that a “modern woman” requires from a car to go about her daily life.
The Mii by Cosmopolitan has essentially been designed by the readers, not just SEAT designers – with various focus groups and feedback sessions leading to the car that’s been launched.
There’s a choice of Violetto (a sort of dark purple/burgundy) and Candy White with matching interior trim.
A new set of bi-colour alloy wheels have been designed for this special edition of the Mii, too.
A range of accessories to go with the new model could be available, although it’s yet to be confirmed if we’ll get these in the UK.
Price and spec info…
There’s no word yet on pricing, but the Mii by Cosmo will debut in early 2017 in both three- and five-door formats, with the existing 1.0-litre 75ps three-cylinder engine under the bonnet.
There’s a new infotainment system called ‘You&Mii ColourConnection’ which is essentially a cradle that lets you integrate your smartphone into the car via a dedicated Cosmopolitan app to control music and phone features through your phone on the dash.
