While much praise is (quite rightly) given to LEGO for its impressive selection of cars for sale, Playmobil has an equally impressive selection that are perfect for children to play with. Like LEGO, Playmobil blends real-life models with fictitious ones, and each one comes with an impressive array of accessories perfect for imaginative play.
We’ve had a look at the best Playmobil toy cars and chosen our favourite ones right here. These would make great gifts for children and adults alike who adore cars.
The best Playmobil cars
Ghostbusters is an iconic film and introduced one of the most iconic film cars of all time, the excellent Ecto-1 Cadillac hearse. Now immortalised in Playmobil form, this set faithfully recreates the car, complete with accessories and working lights, ideal for playtime. It even comes with plastic green slime they can throw on the car (and elsewhere probably).
Another infamous film car, the DeLorean DMC-21 may have been utter rubbish as a car, but it has since become an icon of time travel. This Playmobil time machine comes complete with Doc Brown’s modifications (including flux capacitor and stolen Iranian plutonium rods) as well as working gullwing doors and figures. The best part is that this car features working lights.
Monster trucks are right up there in terms of coolness with fire trucks and jet fighters for most children so why not give them an awesome Playmobil one. Called the Bull, this truck looks how a monster truck should, with massive wheels, a set of horns and a giant Brahma bull motif on the front. The coolest thing about it is that it even features proper articulating suspension, just as a monster truck should.
Want the bug?
A cute classic car for many, the VW Beetle was always going to be an excellent choice for being turned into a Playmobil model. This one comes with a set of three figures, a detailed engine bay and some cool beach accessories, including a surfboard.
Pretty much every child adores Scooby-Doo, which makes this van an excellent toy for pretty much any child. One of the coolest vans in the world, it comes with the iconic livery, light-up insides and plenty of cool accessories including Scooby Snacks. Sadly this kit doesn’t include a model Scooby or Shaggy however, they’re sold separately.
Miniature of miniature racers
A simple and affordable set perfect for long journeys, this carry case contains a small go-kart alongside some cool accessories including some cones and a jerry can. It may not be the biggest set but it’s sure to alleviate boredom and get them interested in racing.
Summer camping fun
A fully furnished campervan toy sounds like an ideal gift for any child, especially when it takes the shape of a classic VW T1. Fully licensed, this model comes with a folding bed, kitchenette, opening doors and a ton of camping accessories. It’s a great toy and we can’t recommend it enough.
Best saved until last? The Playmobil 300 SL is exquisite and capable of making car lovers of any age salivate. At 1:17 scale and accurate to a point, it’s far more affordable than some metal die cast.
