Parkers’ guide to the best campervan accessories

Make a campervanning holiday even better with these added extras.

Written by Ryan Gilmore Updated: 1 November 2024

This is a bit of a cheat sheet for a better campervanning holiday. Whether you’ve bought your first campervan and this is your first rodeo or you’re a grizzled veteran there should be something here that will make a handy addition to your campervanning experience.

In choosing these accessories we’ve looked for a space-saving design, little creature-comforts you wouldn’t immediately think of and above all else, quality items that are sure to last a long time.

The best campervan accessories

Multipurpose pocket knife

Rrp: $52.00

Price: $38.52
Nothing embodies the idea of space-saving functionality like the Swiss Army Knife and we can think of nothing more suited to keeping in a campervan. This Fieldmaster model has 15 functions ranging from a simple bottle opener right down to a small wood saw. It’s pocket-sized so it’ll take up next to no room and they’re excellent quality. We tested a smaller version of this knife as a campervanner’s tool and found it to be excellent.
Space saving washing up bowl

Rrp: $19.93

Price: $14.93
There’ll never be a way to make a washing up bowl interesting, but by making it more practical (it folds down when not in use) it does become a useful addition to a campervan. This bowl from Sammart is large enough to tackle the washing up, its non-slip base keeps it in place, and there is a handy hole for hanging it when not in use

A small step stool will make getting in and out of the campervan easier, and this folding example will take up almost no space when not in use.
Most travel kettles can still be fairly clunky and space-eating, which is why this collapsing silicone kettle makes so much sense. Folded it’s only 3.5cm tall but can be extended to accommodate a litre of water for boiling. It can also be used as a makeshift pot for cooking food making it even more useful.

Outdoors

Barbecuing is a popular pass time on a campervanning holiday but a quality barbecue can be massive. Sure you can pick up a disposable unit from the supermarket but there is another way with the Cobb Pro BBQ. Portable in size (it comes with a carry size), it can be used to roast, bake, fry, grill and even smoke food. This particular model is designed for feeding up to four people but smaller examples are available.
Enjoy a comfortable picnic
Picnics are another nice way to enjoy a campervanning holiday and a quality picnic blanket will make all the difference. This example from Amazon Basics has a waterproof backing and can be folded up for easy storage.

Technology

Enjoy an espresso to go, on the go
A proper espresso is hard to come by on a campsite unless you invest in one of these 12V portable espresso makers. Simply add a coffee pod and plug it into a 12V socket and this machine will make a proper espresso in just a few minutes. With one full USB charge, you can make up to 5 espresso (40 ml) or 3 lungos (80 ml). It also takes up no space when not in use (it fits in a standard cup holder).
This portable fan can be used as a normal desk fan or extended to be a tower fan thanks to a telescopic construction. It’s battery-powered and recharged via USB too which makes it a great portable option. There are four fan settings and it even features a light. Extremely easy to use, simply recharge this fan by connecting it to either a mains plug or your device through the USB charging port.
Portable lighting

Rrp: $31.99

Price: $26.99
Alternative Retailers
Walmart
$24.39
This camping lantern will offer some more lighting when you’re relaxing outdoors. It offers a selection of different lighting options (daylight, warm white, flashing and dimmed) and is IPX4 water-resistant. It’s not rechargeable but does offer a long run time from three D batteries.
Pump up the jam
Price: $49.95
Enjoying music is core to any campervanning holiday so it makes sense to invest in a small but powerful speaker like this one from Sony. Offering a battery life of up to 16 hours and resistant to whatever mother nature can throw at it (IP67 rated) it’s a fantastic Bluetooth speaker that’ll certainly add to any camping experience.

Cleaning

Portable washing machine
Price: $55.00
Washing your clothes is one of the hardest things to do in a campervan. Save yourself the faff of a sink wash or a dash to the laundrette when you run out of socks with this clever wash bag. It works like a modern washboard and will wash clothes in as little as 30 seconds. It also only weighs 145 g empty, can be reused and doubles as a drying bag.
Portable showering
Price: $34.99
A luxury you may miss out on during a campervanning trip is a proper shower. Solve this problem with this 12V portable shower that can be used with any source of water. Even if you only use it to clean a pet or spray the mud off a bike or pair of wellies, this small 12V shower will come in useful for something. You can also buy a proper shower stand for a real show experience.
Your campervan will need cleaning at some point and the best product to do it properly is this spray from Autoglym. Designed to do the inside and outside in one, this spray is the perfect cleaning product. It’s great for removing algae and streaks from the exterior and can be used to clean pretty much any surface on the inside (including carpets and hobs).
