The ‘New’ Fiat 500’s iconic shape, fun ethos and cheap running costs have resulted in huge and enduring popularity. But turning it into an electric car has added a whole other dimension. Now it zips chicly around town with all the style and panache of a petrol-engined 500, but now it offers a silent and serene driving experience. There aren’t even any gears to get in the way.
This electric model also has the best interior fitted to a 500. The infotainment is large, responsive and packed with the latest tech, plus it has all the space you could want for a city car. There are plenty of trim levels to choose from and importantly, customisation options too. You can also have one with a soft-top roof.
Importantly, the Fiat 500 truly works as an electric car and not just a fashion accessory. There are two different battery sizes (one with a 118-mile WLTP range and one with a 205-mile WLTP range) and a 10-80% charge will only take 30 minutes using a rapid charger. How good is the Fiat 500 Electric? Well, it took home first place in this category last year too – and our sister website Carmagazine.co.uk names it as one of the best electric cars money can buy…

Retro, futuristic, zany, cute, a bit bonkers…there are loads of ways of describing the little Honda e, none of which you would traditionally categorise with Honda. Yes, instead of a very practical and reliable box on wheels aimed at garden-centre dwellers, the Honda e is a fashion-led small runabout that scores big on personality and quality.
Very different to everything else on the road, the e’s a real charmer – look at its cute little face! Then there’s the interior. The dashboard is dominated by two 12.3-inch screens bookended by two displays for the feeds from the rear-facing cameras that replace door mirrors. The main screen even has a HDMI port, so you can plug a games console in too.

The e-208 is the small electric car for people who are a little pragmatic and don’t want something that screams ‘LOOK AT ME AND MY ELECTRIC CAR.’ The electric version of the 208 is very subtly different from the rest of the range. A few badges, no sign of a manual gearbox and a slightly different grille is what sets them apart.
So self-assured is the e-208, Peugeot treats it just like a petrol or diesel model. This means it comes in the same trim levels with the same kit. This allows you to spec your 208 the way you like it, then decide whether you want petrol, diesel or electric at the end. Now that’s flexible.
