Tesla Model Y
Short lead times, impressive real-world range and rock-bottom tax bills make the Tesla Model Y a highly desirable company car and a worthy winner of this year’s award. And don’t just take our word for it – since launch, the Model Y has consistently been the UK’s best company car in terms of sales.
The family-friendly SUV is packed with the latest infotainment, driver assistance and safety systems, making it an ideal companion for long business journeys. It’s also practical, with a class-leading boot, spacious, minimalist interior and seating for five. With a choice of three powertrains, there’s a Model Y to suit a variety of needs and budgets.
The mid-spec Long Range makes the most sense for company car drivers. It can cover up to 331 miles between charges yet offers acceleration comparable to a sports car. Plus, the battery can be recharged to 80% capacity in less than half an hour at one of Tesla’s Superchargers or a public rapid charging site. And to make sure no business meetings are missed, Tesla’s sat-nav system will intelligently plot a route that includes any necessary charging stops.

HIGHLY COMMENDED
MG4 EV
How times have changed. While the premise of having an electric company car is attractive to many, the list price for the majority of long-range models remains prohibitive for some. Or at least that was the case until the MG4 EV came along. The smart-looking Volkswagen ID.3 rival undercuts its key competition by a healthy margin.
It means that this practical EV with a long range and comprehensive specification, is one of the best company car options on sale today. Even the entry-level model is capable of more than 200 miles between charges and the recently-launched Extended Range version can keep going for 320 miles.
The MG4 EV isn’t shy of equipment, either. It comes with parking sensors, adaptive cruise control and a 10.0-inch touchscreen with smartphone connectivity. Underpinned by a new, bespoke platform, it is more refined, better to drive and technologically superior to MG’s other electric models. It represents a new era for the brand and solidifies it as one to be taken seriously by fleet managers and company car drivers alike.

BMW i4
The BMW 3 Series has long been one of the most popular and aspirational company cars but, as times are changing and drivers are rapidly seeking tax efficient EVs, the baton has been passed to the i4. With a sleek, yet distinctive appearance, the i4 has the silhouette of a saloon and the practicality of a hatchback. It’s as comfortable and relaxing as it is rapid and engaging, providing the perfect balance for sensible business driving in the daytime and enjoyable leisure use in the evenings.
Bolstering the already impressive eDrive40 model, which can achieve 300 miles of real-world driving, is a new eDrive35 variant that trades a little performance and range in return for a lower list price. With either variant, company car drivers are unlikely to be disappointed if they opt for an i4. It’s a BMW in the truest sense, and praise doesn’t come much higher than that.
