Best Electric Van | Parkers Van and Pickup Awards 2024

Best Electric Van Award in partnership with Mustard

The Parkers Electric Van Award recognises the rising importance of electrification in the LCV market. There have been electric vans for years, of course, and the segment is booming, with more pure electric vans entering the market. The winner of the Best Electric Van 2024 goes to the Ford E-Transit for the second year, thanks to its all-round excellence and usability.

Ford E-Transit

Best Electric Van - Ford E-Transit

It would have required something seriously special to knock the superlative Ford E-Transit off its perch as the best electric van, but it remains the top of its class for another year. It has the longest range of any large van with 196 miles possible between charges, while it is the most powerful large van full stop with up to 269hp.

That it is a conversion rather than a purpose-built electric van makes this all the more impressive and interesting. The cabin is almost entirely unchanged from the diesel model, while the loading bay is unchanged, with the battery tech seamlessly integrated.

Things are set to get more exciting in the electric van world in the coming year, though, with Stellantis revamping all 12 of its vans across its four brands, and the Ford E-Transit Custom on its way, too. The E-Transit will have a tougher job to retain its crown next year, but for now it remains the undisputed leader in the electric-van class.

Maxus eDeliver 9

Best Electric Van - Maxus eDeliver 9

Maxus is slowly becoming a more common sight on our streets, helped by deals with delivery firms and the impressive nature of the Deliver 9 large van. The electric version, the eDeliver 9, is one of the more adept large EV vans, with three battery options, a wide range of body shapes and sizes and a high-quality cabin.

It’s also good to drive, with an accurate and dependable range that is up with the best in the class. It’s streets ahead of the offerings from some of the more established and well-known brands in the large van sector.

Renault Kangoo E-Tech

Best Electric Van - Renault Kangoo E-Tech

The Kangoo E-Tech is Renault’s first purpose-built electric van and it is far removed from the more compromised conversions that buyers of the brand’s larger commercial vehicles have to put up with. The Kangoo just works, with everything neatly integrated and simple to use.

There are two versions of the Kangoo E-Tech to choose from, but the longer model is the one that offers a more compelling package as, unusually, it comes with the higher payload due to a heavy-duty rear axle. It might not be the game changer that the E-Transit is, but it is an excellent small challenger for the best electric van.
