Best Company Car: BMW i4 | Parkers New Car Awards 2025

Best Company Car Award in partnership with Fleet News

The needs of company car drivers are many and varied – and any carmaker that can build a model that’s at the heart of what business users need is doing very well indeed. This is a tightly fought award, but our winner – the BMW i4 – offers low taxation costs, desirability, speed and is also great fun to drive.

The needs of company car drivers are many and varied – and any carmaker that can build a model that’s at the heart of what business users need is doing very well indeed. This is a tightly fought award, but our winner – the BMW i4 – offers a great driving experience, desirability, brand kudos and is also a joy to live with.

WINNER

BMW i4

The BMW i4 set a new benchmark in the premium car segment when it was launched in 2021 – and it remains unsurpassed today. As the natural successor to BMW’s extremely popular 3 Series, the i4 first won the Best Company Car category in 2023 and reclaims the title in 2025 now that BMW has updated it. It’s highly desirable, well equipped and benefits from competitive leasing rates, making it an affordable company car choice.

Judges described the car as ‘a proper BMW’ and one that comes with no compromises when compared to a conventional petrol or diesel model. The eDrive40 offers an impressive range of up to 357 miles, coupled with excellent performance, while the more recently introduced eDrive35 variant can still cover 293 miles and offers a lower entry price point. As a fully electric model, company car drivers can expect low tax bills from just £205 per year.

Based on the 4 Series Gran Coupe, the i4 shares the same practical hatchback body and sleek styling. It’s also just as engaging to drive, with the electric motor’s immediate response adding an additional fun factor. Whether it’s being used as a family car, for commuting, or for long-distance travel, the i4 is a package that’s hard to beat.

HIGHLY COMMENDED

Audi Q6 E-Tron

As the first of a new family of electric Audis, the Q6 E-Tron is an excellent SUV – offering great technology, practicality and driveability at a competitive price point. It’s as spacious and practical as an Audi Q5 but comes with a fully electric powertrain, making it a highly desirable company car. Rear- and all-wheel-drive powertrain options are available, with either an 83kWh or 100kWh battery. The latter gives a range of almost 400 miles, which should be ample for the majority of business users.

Making use of the latest battery technology, the Q6 E-Tron can charge very quickly. More than 150 miles of driving range can be added in just 10 minutes, at the right charging point. High levels of refinement make it ideal for long distance driving, there’s also a great suite of safety and driver assistance systems included as standard. Prices start at less than £60,000 for the entry-level rear-wheel drive model, while Quattro all-wheel-drive versions and a ‘hot’ SQ6 version are also available.

MG HS PHEV

It’s hard to overlook the MG HS PHEV based on price alone and that’s before considering the fact it’s a practical, good-looking family SUV. Undercutting all its competitors, the HS PHEV is available from just £31,495. It is also one of only a handful of models available that sit in the 5% benefit-in-kind tax band, thanks to its all-new plug-in hybrid powertrain. This makes the HS PHEV much cheaper to run as a company car than rival models.

The tax savings result from the MG’s significant zero-emission range of up to 75 miles, coupled with its miniscule CO2 emissions of just 12g/km. The upshot for drivers is excellent fuel economy, whether the battery is charged or not. Performance is remarkably rapid, despite the car’s eco credentials. With 307hp available, the HS PHEV accelerates quickly and silently. Its electric motor does most of the work, with very little intrusion from the 1.5-litre petrol engine.
