Autoglym ceramic wash and wax shampoo
Price: £22.97 – Buy from Amazon UK
You would think, after nearly 800 miles of motorway travel across the country, that a car could do with a deep clean. A detail that would rid road dust and other detritus picked up from the leafy lanes of Hampshire to the coastal dust of Brighton. Let’s not forget the many motorways and bugs that were splattered along the way.
However, after giving what I can only describe as a coating of Autoglym’s Ceramic Wash and Wax Shampoo, the dirt and dust never settled into the paintwork. Our car was left looking slick and glamorous as she kept rocking up from appointment to appointment.
It sits at quite a premium price point of nearly £23 for a one-litre bottle, but the protection and enhancement it gives to paintwork is simply unmatched to any cleaning product we’ve tested before. I’ve religiously used it since the Spring, and all the other top brands can take a leaf out of Autoglym’s book. This is the future of car shampoos simply because it streamlines the protection process for such a keen price.

Gtechniq G6 Perfect Glass
Price: £9.95 – Buy from Amazon UK
Glass cleaner was previously an odd one for me. Largely because before our comprehensive group test, I’d never really bothered with it before. Upon discovering how well Gtechniq nailed the glass cleaning formula, though, I was smitten. Suddenly, you realise how smudgy and smeared glass can get, and the little water stains and spots can seriously affect your ability to see out under direct sunlight.
Glass cleaner is a fabulous thing to keep on hand, and out of a very tightly competitive group test, it was the G6 Perfect Glass that nailed the brief the most. It’s amazing value for money, too – which always takes us by surprise with Gtechniq products. Needless to say, it’s definitely worth your while.

Car Gods Almighty Pre-Wash
Price: £13.99 – Buy from Amazon UK
If you’re tasked with lifting algae and muck off a 1982 Audi 80 CD that hasn’t been on the road since the late 1990s, you might wonder how you’d approach the cleaning process. We found the answer, and the secret is Car Gods’ quite literally almighty pre-wash. It’s what you apply before anything else on a vehicle detail as it lifts the top layer of dirt before you can apply the snow foam and/or shampoo.
What we didn’t expect however, was how much dirt this pre-wash could lift. Testing each product one panel at a time, the Car Gods product was a clear league above the rest of the competitors and teased the faded green paintwork better than anything else that could’ve been thrown at it.
