Renault has changed its warranty length for the third time in three years in a bid to improve customer confidence, and ultimately improve sales.
The French firm is now offering five-year/100,000 miles warranties for all of its cars. In 2018, it offered a three-year warranty, and in 2017, it offered a four-year warranty.
All cars registered after 18 December 2019 will be covered by the new five-year warranty. Crucially, customers buying the brand-new Clio are accepted for this extended cover, regardless of when their cars were registered.
The 100,000-mile warranty is split into two halves. There’s an unlimited mileage warranty for the first two years, with a 100,000-mile limit thereafter. The offer applies to fleet customers, as well as regular ones.
The new Clio, Koleos, Zoe, Twizy, Captur, Megane, Grand Scenic, and Kadjar are all included. The New Renault Trafic Passenger and SpaceClass, people-carrying versions of the Trafic van, fall in line with Renault’s LCV range. This means they only receive a three-year/100,000-mile warranty.
Renault’s roadside assistance package remains unchanged. Models come with a three-year roadside assistance package with a 100,000-mile limit for Renault’s electric cars and the Koleos, and a 60,000-mile limit for all other models.
A spokesperson from Renault UK told Parkers: ‘This is a local initiative. Ultimately with the confidence we have in new products like the new Clio, Captur and Zoe this seemed like an appropriate time to roll out an enhanced warranty, that in turn should bolster customer trust in our products. We already offer a five-year warranty in some countries, including Ireland and Germany.’
