Cars on show: New 911 Targa, Le Mans racing car
New 911 Targa goes back to the future
Geneva marks Porsche’s first opportunity to show off its new 911 Targa in Europe.
Combining elements of both coupe and cabriolet motoring, the 911 Targa’s roof and window styling mimics the late 1960s original, but unlike its forebear, the roof opens electrically.
The fabric roof panel above the front seats concertinas backwards hiding behind the token back seats. At the same time the wraparound glass rear window raises up to allow the soft part of the roof to fold away.
Two versions are available, the Targa 4 and Targa 4S with 345bhp and 394bhp respectively. First UK deliveries arrive in May.
Also on the Porsche stand are the 918 Spyder, a car we’ve already seen, and a pair of racing cars – the 911 RSR and 919 Endurance racer that ex-F1 ace Mark Webber will pilot this year.
