Summary
What does this car say about you?
Most probably won't recognise it.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Enjoyed it and felt it comfortable for the most part.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes and will probably get one in the UK market. I sold my one after 7 months but I know it is still running strong with no problems at the moment. Simply put this car offers great value for money. Especially with the UK second hand market. Please remember folks, top spec it weighs in at 3 tons or so and it is a turbo diesel so they drive different to petrol models you may be used too.
What are you likely to buy next?
Looking at a Captiva LTX again, or perhaps a Grand Cherokee.

£25,000
When did you buy the car?
November 2007
Did you get a good deal and why?
Not really, being a new car in a country with low depreciation.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Required a large, comfortable car that would in theory, survive a collision. Had to be a diesel for refinery access.
What was the dealer like?
No problems, hassled to buy it never needed to contact after.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Comfortable. The Captiva remained very stable at motorway speeds. Drives like a normal family car on the narrow winding roads. Performed adequately offroad. Performance wise the Captiva suffered a little from turbo lag due to it's small engine but nothing to worry about. Out accelerated Toyota D4D equivalent, Fortuner and had a higher top speed. MPG was around 35-40MPG mixed. With climate control running constantly.
What's it like to park?
My vehicle had reverse park sensors making even multi-story car parking very easy.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Nothing.
What's most practical about your car?
Comfort and Size, low displacement diesel engine that put out more power for less capacity than it's rivals.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
in dash 6 disc mp3 changer.
