What is miles per pound?
Fuel economy
A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test.
Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 39 - 44 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Insurance groups are low, depreciation average and you don’t need to worry about servicing, breakdown cover or a warranty for three years, although the free servicing offer was replaced by an optional fixed-cost servicing pack in 2006, selectable when ordering the car. If buying used, check whether the car has any free or pre-paid servicing left on it.
The Kalos scores fairly poorly on the eco front. With an average of 159g/km CO2 across the line-up, its emissions are relatively high for a small engines hatchback and the range isn’t especially economical, averaging 43mpg.
The Kalos appears to be fairly durable but the interior may not stand up to heavy punishment.
