Summary
What does this car say about you?
Can't deny that it is nice to be noticed and this car does turn heads. Also there is a big 300C fan club in the States and the UK where you can buy all sorts of upgrades. Check out ebay - there are about 10 different grills you can buy!!
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
All have good things to say. Mostly they think that it is a £60k car and are astounded when you tell them the price. The only car I have owned where I have been spoken to by complete strangers who are taken with the car's looks and want to know more.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, although there is the new 2011 version out now which looks even more interesting. Can't say I like the body look over the old one but the interior looks good and all of the seat controls, heater controls, seat settings - practically everything now goes through a central touch screen control unit.
What are you likely to buy next?
Wanna be different so thinking about a Ford Mustang import but would consider sticking with the 300C.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£13,000
When did you buy the car?
June 2012
Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, the vehicle was reduced in price to about £400 more than a recommended private purchase price. With the comprehensive warranty this was worth taking.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Had owned one for 4 years previously but it was written off in an accident.
What was the dealer like?
Very approachable. Vehicle was some distance away and I was collected from the railway station. Car was immaculate and all tyres were changed at cost by the dealer although they were within legal limits. I hadn't requested this, they just did it. After 1 month I was contacted by the dealer to check up on how I was getting on with the car.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
It is a big fella with comfortable suspension. It accelerates well, brakes well and is reasonable around bends. It is not a racing car and was not designed to be so. Around town in tight places it can be a bit interesting, however it comes into it's own on the Motorway. It was designed by the Americans who don't have to cope with our style of crappy roads and this car is happier on a long straight road with a few slight bends. It's comfortable and a delight to cruise. The grumbly V6 diesel even sounds happiest here.
What's it like to park?
A bit tight, especially in multi-storey car parks.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
No, not as yet although my previous model had throttle control valve problems (common on the mercedes engine) and front steering rod replacements at 30,000 miles. I checked this car (purchased at just over 30,000 miles) and both steering rods were new which may indicate a common wearing fault. These parts do wear on all cars but 30,000 miles is a bit low. Guess it's just a heavy old beast !!
What's most practical about your car?
To be fair it is not very practical. It looks great and is very comfortable to drive. Fuel consumption isn't great, though performance is better than expected. If you want a practical car buy a Ford - if you want something different and ostentatious then this is the car for you. Looks a more expensive car than it is. Definitely a car for posers !!!
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Mygig system. Touch screen entertainment system with satnav. Can be a bit complicated but there is you-tube footage of how to use it fully. Voice activation as well although this is only really useful on the phone section. All music can be loaded onto it's own hard drive including a facility to copy CD's directly onto the memory, hence no multi-changer as no longer needed. Memory is vast. I have 50 albums on there and memory is no where near full. You can also set your own background picture !!
