Chrysler Grand Voyager (2001 - 2008) 2.8 CRD Limited XS 5d Auto Owner Review

In their own words
Coming to this after a string of German cars I am struck by how basic it is. No amount of fake wood or thick carpet can disguise the fact that it is a bus/van/taxi at heart with cart springs and the same diesel as used in the london black cab. It is noticeably unrefined and noisy at all speeds, the low speed ride is particularly so with trim squeaking and flapping over every bump. It manages motorways better though and at a steady 70 it is smooth and fairly economical. Go much faster though and it wanders about like a dodgy shopping trolley, the fuel consumption drops exponentially and the noise becomes unbearable for any time.
Good news? Well it is very big and if like me, you bought the car to move lots of stuff and/or people it is perfect for the job. Seats down it's in full blown Transit van territory and with a completely flat load area and the two sliding side doors and lifting tailgate make loading it a doddle. The stow and go system is easily the best thing about the Voyager and makes it worth putting up with it's other shortcomings. It's basic build means it is simple and cheap to repair and maintain and it's still completely rust free at 15. I am also quite surprised at the fuel economy - for a huge van a constant 30+ mpg is not at all bad.
