Practicality rating: 3 out of 53.0

The Sebring is fitted with ESP, an electronic stability programme which is linked with traction control and brake assist. Also standard across the range are multi-stage front airbags, side-curtain airbags and front-seat-mounted side airbags, seatbelt pretensioners and a Thatcham category 1 alarm.

Unlike many family cars, there’s no hatchback available – only a saloon. Still it’s fairly roomy and a fold-flat front passenger seat provides a handy table as well as working with the 60:40 split-folding rear seats to allow extra-long items to be carried. All doors have big pockets for maps and further items can be carried in a pocket at the back of the driver’s seat.

One of the two compartments in the centre console storage bin has a power outlet. The boot isn’t particularly wide (and neither is the opening) but there’s decent room inside with 385 litres of space – the same as Ford Focus.
