Citroën AX 1.0 Debut Plus 3d (1993/K) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Bought at a knockdown price with 1 year's warranty from an independant garage.
Costs
Cheap to run and economical. Parts are reasonable.
-
On the road
Driving
Leans on corners, but otherwise stable and nice to drive.
Performance
Not bad considering the engine size - can manage with 4 people until you get to a hill. Really needs a 5th gear.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Usually starts first time, has never broken down and has done 102,500 miles in 9 years!
Image
Not as good as 106 or Fiesta, but there are lots around and is easy to customise.
Comfort
Soggy seats and offset pedals do not help comfort. Poor on long journeys, as cramp soon sets in.

Security and Service
Security
It has (poor) locks...! The only deterrant is the rubbish stereo and lack of joy-rider appeal!
Service
Some parts expensive, others very cheap. Dealer reasonably helpful.

Problems and Ownership

Engine
Leaks a bit of oil, whistles at high speeds and misfires quite a lot.
