Citroën AX 10 E 3d (1991/J) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Bought from trader desperate to get rid of it after a trade-in. Well worth doing if checked properly as not wanted on forecourts!!
Costs
Parts can be expensive, but compared to my old Clio, not too bad.

On the road
Driving
Junk the standard 135 rims and get some off a scrap car (145s or above) and it grips well. Great B-road basher if you use the gears quickly.
Performance
Considering it's only 50bhp, it keeps up with most things on the motorway! Drive smoothly and it flies!

Living with it
Reliability
I've done 65k. It's now on 156k and I've only had a split radiator hose. For a £500 car, no complaints! Just change the timing belt at 36k miles, not 72k, as pulleys look poor after 40K. Use good oil too.
Image
Fit clear indicators up front and it looks a whole lot better!
Comfort
Better than most cars this size. Better after fitting gas shocks.

Security and Service
Security
Change locks to replacement items from Citroen (same as Saxo) and they're fine. Boot weakpoint.
Service
Looked down on me for not having a Saxo.
