Citroën AX 1.4 GT 3d (1990/G) Owner Review

Economy
Value
You get a nice engine but little body, so fair value.
Costs
More expensive to run than a Ford Fiesta and less than a Renault, but remember it is french so the costs will be higher. This car is a Peugeot 205 with a lighter shell, so most parts do donar.

On the road
Driving
Lazy handling, but relatively predictable with pockets of understeer for such a small car, but be rest assured you shouldn't leave the road whilst taking a corner.
Performance
Oh doesn't she go in first gear. More power to weight ratio than an old Porsche 911, but once 3rd gear is hit, you struggle to keep up with the Big Boys.

Living with it
Reliability
Not bad. If something is going to break on it then you can be rest assurred you will hear the noises! So beware of worn gearboxes, slipping clutches and clunky driveshafts on semi to full-lock!
Image
Very squared off and most probably designed by a French stone mason it's that blocky. It still has a certain eye-catching look.
Comfort
Bang, bang, bang - need I say more? Standard 14" alloys too tall and not wide enough, giving a very bone-shaking ride. Seats in the front give great support as do the rear ones.

Security and Service
Security
Continual central locking faults and a door which opens on its own makes my car the easiest car to steel in the world
Service
Very helpful for parts, but get the servicing done independently or do it yourself.

Solid as a rock. Mine's done 130,000 miles and still alive, need I say more?
Other
I can't stress how important it is to check driveshafts and gearbox due to torqey engine.
