Citroën BX Hatchback 14 RE 5d (1990/G) Owner Review

Economy
Value
You can go a long way on £500. Just make sure that it has a long MOT and tax otherwise probably not worth it.
Costs
Once it reaches 10 years it requires MASSIVE amounts of repair work. Min bill of £300-400 every time due to suspension and general Citroen weirdness, sorry design choice.

On the road
Driving
Good for motorways, but a bit like driving a Sherman tank around your average city car park!
Performance
The engine was THE reliable component in the car and made it (usually) worthwhile. Just needs a bit a choke but once it's going it will take you from Lands End to John O' Groats.

Living with it
Reliability
Will it break down or will I get there? Who has the coin today? heads or tails?
Image
I'm sorry, but look at your average fellow BX drivers. They fall into two camps and I'm not saying what they are.
Comfort
There's nothing like that BX glide over all the nasty speed bumps!

Security and Service
Security
don't worry if you loose the keys, it's not that hard to get into. However you are secure in the knowledge that NO-ONE will break in.
Service
They really didn't want to know. It may be a classic but main dealers just look and laugh.
