Citroën C3 (2010 - 2016) 1.4i VTR+ 5d Owner Review

In their own words
I liked how bigger than similar cars in the same class it was particularly the boot size/opening and the rear leg room. I also liked the level of equipment it came with. The VTR+ i got compared to say a Golf would have been up to £7k more for the same equipment level at the time. As it's basically a 5 door DS3 the interior had a high quality feel compared to other cars around the same price. My dislikes were that the engine i chose (1.4 8v), was a very old engine used by Peugeot and Citroen for decades resulting in poor fuel economy and performance. The car also came with the same common problems that the previous C3 had and Citroen hand not rectified them. The depreciation value for new and nearly new cars is quite high for a budget car, the car lost £7k in nearly 5 years with a purchase price of £11k. I would recommend this car but only if you get the higher specs and the 16v versions. Please bear in mind though that the mpg figures are at least 10% lower than quoted depending on your driving style and car tax prices are cheaper are usually cheaper on other cars around the same price until the 2012 uplift version.
How reliable do you find the car?
had multiple problems with rust from 3 years old onward which were done under warranty, particularly the boot. 3 boots replaced although the newer boots have drain holes on the bottom seams to prevent this. headlight seals went after 4 years, new headlights needed. wiper stalk went after 5 years at a cost of £450 to repair, this is a known common fault. Exhaust bracket bolts snapped a a few times and were a pain to repair as they are welded to the chassis. Air con Radiator disintegrated as water gets trapped and then freezes in the winter due to large open front grill, £500 to replace. Many other problems but could be put down to wear and tear..About their car
