In their own words

First off, I wouldn't recommend this car because it's marmite if you like it a fiesta/polo/whatever else will seem a bit dull and rather beige. If you don't "get" how it does things though there are many things to dislike. It's not built to compete with other cars in class at all, it doesn't acknowledge they exist let alone attempt to compete. Things to dislike: gearchange is long, steering is absolutely dead, all 3 pedals operate in a different way, so sharp brake, long clutch and slightly wooly throttle so can be hard to drive smoothly. Glovebox is a joke, the long travel springs give both body roll and when combined with soft dampers can give a weird bobbing on undulating roads. But none of this actually matters because.. Things to like: interior is a nice place to spend time, not a symphony in quality plastic but is nicely designed, nicely illuminated at night, nice fonts on the dials. Has soft leather on the wheel and gear knob on the flair which helps it to feel quality. The seat material is something you'd have in your house and the chairs themselves are comfy. Combine this with sensible wheel and tyre combo (ours doesn't have the 17s only 16s) and the soft springs and it can smooth out terrible roads in a very impressive way. Engine is strong enough to make journeys relaxing while still making good progress, gears are long only 2500 rpm in top at 70 on a 5 speed box. Also while the handling isn't hugely confidence inspiring it does accurately follow what you ask it to do even if it's scraping the mirror on the road in process. The infotainment may not be the best in class but it certainly does the job and we've had no issues and Android auto works great. Wind and engine noise are good for the type of car and on the whole the cabin is quite insulating. Also very well equipped with no must have options required to make it other than possibly get the 110 puretec for the full loping experience. At its best on a Sunday afternoon trip in the country at it's own pace, disappointing thing to hustle down your favourite back road at speed. Very much feels like descendant of the Citroens of old. And finally..unlike a fiesta or polo..you can't lose it in a car park.

How reliable do you find the car?

Car has worked without issues, rear light has a leak will mention it at service. Our previous Ds3 had same fault expect it will be fixed f.o.c. under warranty.

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Bit of an odd car in that in many ways it's a bit poor but has a sense of fun that's not present in the competition and is just charming and has character.
