In their own words
When I decided to buy our 'retirement' car, I faced a tricky decision. I have driven vehicles from the cheap to the very expensive, privately and as company cars for 50 years. I like to joke that I bought a red Citroen C4 Cactus because people would be able to see me coming and I had bumpers on all 4 sides. But there is an element of truth in that. I have searched car parks for a space away from every other car. I never bother in the Cactus! The Air Bumps are just fantastic. Getting in and out as I get older was also looking for a car that was easy to get in to and get out of. The height and size of the C4 seats is excellent. Good height and very comfortable indeed. I needed 4 doors ( I have a 2 door coupe for good weather) so that the dog and grandchildren can jump in the back easily. And I wanted something quite punchy but economical. The Citroen is surprisingly quick when pushed. It has a decent 1.6 litre diesel. But it is so light, it always feels faster than that. And I have driven across France so many times at high speed, only to be passed by a C4, that I knew it was fast enough. It is very well equipped. Important for me was built in Sat-Nav, Cruise Control for crossing France, Speed Limiter for UK Motorways, and Rear View Camera, as I find it harder to look over my shoulder. Overall, this is one of the best cars I have owned. I bought an end of model example at a very low price and for the money it is just fantastic. It was a great buy new for me. But someone looking for a second hand family car could not go wrong with one of these.
