In their own words

This has generally been a very pleasant car to own & drive, a good upgrade from my old Xsara Picasso. It is comfortable and quiet, I would agree that it suits a relaxed driving style. I don't think that the handling, gearshift or fuel consumption would suit 'enthusiastic' (hooligan) driving. The engine was a real surprise, delivering torque at low revs like a diesel. Refinement is good and power is more than adequate. Fuel economy, at about 43mpg for me, is OK but not outstanding. Equipment is good, but not quite up to current levels. No adaptive cruise control or lane departure warnings, but it has got keyless ignition, a reversing camera and a powered (handsfree) boot. The audio quality from the infotainment system is the best of any car I have owned. The built in navigation isn't the greatest, but I connect my phone and use that instead. Back seat accomodation is good - reclining individual seats, lots of legroom, no hump in the floor, seatback trays, blinds, a panoramic sunroof and back row vent controls. The kids like this car. Decent size boot, with a spacesaver spare stored in the well. On the negative side, Citroen (as usual) cut a few corners in producing the right hand drive model, so the glovebox is almost entirely filled by a fusebox and the windscreen vents seem to clear the left side first (if you pay enough attention). They also dropped a few options and cheaped out in places on this end-of-the-line (in the UK anyway) model - the floor mats are flimsy, adjustable mood lighting is gone and the lights in the footwells & storage cubbys are dirt cheap old bulbs (replaced them with LEDs to get the same light colour as the rest of the cabin). The rechargeble torch in the boot is gone too, leaving only one sad, little light (this wasn't up to the job, so I replaced it with an LED unit and put a second one in on the other side - now I can actually see what I'm doing in the boot). The only problem I've had was when the engine stop/start stopped working a month or so after I got the car. Long motorway runs failed to bring it back. I suspected battery sulphation (preventing it from recharging properly) due to it sitting in the showroom for several months before I bought it. The dealership were useless, simply dismissing my report of the fault without investigation. Fortunately I cured it with a cheap pulse charger (a boon during lockdown).

How reliable do you find the car?

Some issues with the battery. After a month or so the engine stop/start function no longer worked and could not be brought back even by long motorway journeys. I suspect sulphation of the battery due to several months sitting in the showroom. Fixed it myself with a cheap pulse charger. (dealership denied the problem even existed and wouldn't investigate it)

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

It is a very comfortable & quiet drive. Fuel economy is OK, but not outstanding. Equipment level is good, but not quite up to current standards.
