Citroën C4 Hatchback (2004 - 2010) 1.6HDi 16V VTR Plus (110bhp) EGS (09/08) 5d Owner Review

This car is no longer in the first flush of youth, but it has always proved reliable, apart from one or two recent fairly minor suspension problems, which were easily fixed. A couple of recent MOT failures have involved splits to the drive shaft joint cv boots (two years running - what did the garage do by way of a repair the first time?), otherwise normal wear and tear only. The automatic DSG gearbox is a bit quirky until you get used to it, but fuel economy is excellent. The general driving experience is good (mainly town driving), with decent acceleration for overtaking from the 1.6 diesel engine. The shape of the car can be disconcerting initially (very easy to bump your head getting in or out, particularly on the passenger side, due to the curved roof shape. The digital display of speed, mileage, gearbox selections, etc is unusual, but very easy to read. Good, roomy boot space, with handy hooks for hanging shopping bags, etc. Overall, I have enjoyed owning/driving this car, and would, despite its age, still recommend it.
