Other Citroën C5 (2001 - 2004) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

It is an "old farts car", practical, meets my needs and I do not care what other people think.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

It is about time I changed it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, the new C5 meets my original requirements and has more features and a high build quality.

What are you likely to buy next?

I am waiting for the new C5 used car prices to get within the range where I could afford one, if my present car breaks down, I will go for a late model of my present car. Being old myself, how many miles have I got in the tank, no point in buying a new car, I would hardly run it in, wear the seats, before some BBC presenter would pounce on it and race it around a track on an enormous salary; reality breaking in, despite the six numbers coming-up in the lottery, I would still like a new C5 Tourer (German for Estate), because it does what I need it to do (mobile workshop and tow glider trailers).

Citroen - nearly new deal, red no the most popular colour.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Very good, I have had dealings with the individuals in the company for many years.

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

It is a big car, with not much power, but it accelerates, pulls and has a potential top speed that delivers reasonable performance in the legal speed range. Economic.

    What's it like to park?

In town parking is not easy, if you are short, as am I, the pillars get in the way; however the steering wheel does tilt upwards and with the seat at full elevation, the view is improved.

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Drivers door handle broke. Air mass meter sensor, Tailgate glass window, should open, but fails, twice, rear wiper motor. And now bearings in rear suspension. Not bad for 165,000 miles.

What's most practical about your car?

The load space is large and the suspension can be lowered to help with heavy loads.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

    Self-leveling suspension, good for towing.
