Citroën C5 Hatchback 2.2 HDi Exclusive 5d (2002/51) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Lots of technology and gadgets for the money - makes rivals seem prehistoric and miserly.
Costs
Fuel consumption reasonable for big diesel with big body. £10 more per year to insure than Octavia SLX TDi, yet to pay for service.

On the road
Driving
Feels big round town and turning circle poor. Superb body control, good steering, awesome brakes. Very smooth if driven with sensitivity. Drive it like a rep in a Ford and it wobbles.
Performance
Smooth and quiet 2.2 HDi a lot quicker than it feels. Very easy to speed. Lots of torque.

Living with it
Reliability
Good so far, but too new to tell.
Image
No BMW, but then I'm not an aggressive philistine. Such people find it hard to rate drivers of big Citroens - 'weird' is the best they usually manage.
Comfort
The reason to buy. There is no better long distance cruiser. UK to Biarritz non-stop (apart from food and fuel) - like being on a train. Smooth, quiet and utterly masterful.

Security and Service
Security
Not tested, but lack of kudos and alarm is reassuring.
Service
Good sales experience from dealer and good trade-in. Yet to test the often maligned service experience.
