Other Citroën C5 (2004 - 2008) models:

  • Summary

    3 out of 5 3.0

What does this car say about you?

That I go for oddball French looks over reliability!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

    Repmobile.

Would you buy this car again and why?

If it were cheap enough, might go for the slightly simpler 1.6 HDi though.

What are you likely to buy next?

C6 if I win the lottery.

  • Buying experience

    3 out of 5 3.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £4,100

When did you buy the car?

    August 2008

Did you get a good deal and why?

Bought from an internet auction site with 102k miles, ex-Citroen lease car with FSH.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Love the big Citroens, despite my previous Xantia being something of a money pit...!

    What was the dealer like?

    Nice fellas!

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

Not quite as gutsy as I'd hoped from 136 bhp, but then it does have a fair few miles under its belt, and probably isn't quite running 100% right as mentioned above. Fuel economy disappointing after Xantia, get about 240 miles out of 30 quid of diesel compared to 300 in the Xantia.

    What's it like to park?

Easy enough, power steering up to the job.

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Slightly lumpy idle and wee bit of a stutter on pulling away sometimes, replaced very expensive particulate filter (500 quid!) but to no avail, have just gotten used to it now, don't want to chuck cash at a difficult to diagnose problem on a modern diesel the way I did with my Xantia.

What's most practical about your car?

It's a big Citroen, not much practical about them at all really - guess it had a big boot but I don't use it all that often!

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Speed limiter handy on camera-infested roadworks.
