Summary
What does this car say about you?
I like the comfort, size, power, economy and style of this car. It's eye-catching yet practical.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Very impressed. This is in the style of BMW/Audi but at a much reduced price.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Only had the car since June. Very happy so far. Worry about cost of Citroen repairs if anything major goes wrong, but so far no big trouble (also, no big trouble on previous C5 2.0 VTR hatch). I would buy it again. I might be tempted to try the 2.0 to see whether the extra power is really necessary and whether it does even better on mpg; seem to get average 48 - 50 on a run from the 2.2 Tourer whereas get about 54 - 56 with older C5.
What are you likely to buy next?
As long as no big faults arise with this one, I'll probably stick with this range. Many Brits still have a "thing" about Citroen's so you can get BMW or Audi like quality without paying the premium rates.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Didn't buy from a dealer
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£7,200
When did you buy the car?
June 2012
Did you get a good deal and why?
This is a Citroen UK lease car being de-leased at 3 years. I bought it online at British Car Auctions in Measham. It's clean, fully serviced and well below list price.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Previous C5 written off.
What was the dealer like?
BCA seems to be a very professional auction operation - much more professional than the slightly shady perception one has of car auctions.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Very easy to drive, plenty of seat adjustment, punchy, responsive engine, but still economical on a run. Have used it to tow a caravan - effortless. The liquid suspension makes it a very comfortable ride indeed.
What's it like to park?
This is a big car. Its reversing sensors are indispensable, though front sensors would be a good addition.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
A couple of times the cruise control/speed limiter function has decided to switch itself off. Internet search shows others have had similar problems. Headlight bulb went; expensive bulb but much easier to replace than previous C5 hatchback. Retaining button has snapped on the rear airbag enclosure; not sure how to replace/repair.
What's most practical about your car?
It's big, comfortable and rides beautifully. Acres of load space.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Well equipped. I like the remote control boot opening function and the get-you-home-safely lighting system. Heating/air conditioning controls a little fussy (still haven't figured them out!).
