Summary
What does this car say about you?
I hope it says ASTUTE. This is a car for the few of us in the know. It is quirky, different, and just oozes style in the tradition of the Citroen SM. It is also says you are not one of the mindless herd in your corporate BMW, Audi, or MB. It also says you have enough cash to run it. My depreciation having bought used will be minimal, but despite the unstressed diesel it is quite thirsty - around 30mpg - and £450 road tax. Insurance LV is £250. 20K service interval!
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Most people have never heardof or seen one of these - but most absolutely love it, and just cant believe you can get so much for so little. They do think it is an astute buy.
Would you buy this car again and why?
YES YES YES. A 3.0 Exclusive next time deffinately.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£11,700
When did you buy the car?
February 2012
Did you get a good deal and why?
There were only 4 or 5 cars advertised when I bought. Mine seemed to be the best on offer at the time. Only 23K miles, at a good price from a Car Supermarket in Nottingham - within reasonable range of home in Worcester.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I spent 30 years at quite a senior level in the Car Industry. Saw the C6 at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005 and loved it. Now I am retired and buy my own cars, I would never buy new, and have a policy of buying outside the mainstream - something that is a lot of car for the money. Nothing better than the wonderful C6 to meet this breif.
What was the dealer like?
As a "car" guy I was impressed. Clean, professional, keen prices. Seemingly "fair" practices, and desire to meet customer needs. Although I could have done without the highly trained, process driven sale negotiation, and albeit non pushy attempts to sell finance, warranty, paint treatment etc.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
If you are like me and think that the "Top Gear" live audience are the saddest group of people ever assembled - as they gaze adoringly at their Messiah - that corpulent teen ager Jeremy Clarkson - then you will not mind that the C6 is not set up like a sportscar to please largely ignorant motoring journalists. This car wafts you around in a cacoon of peace, tranquility and comfort. It is never less than a pleasure to drive or be driven. I absolutely love it.
What's it like to park?
Its a big bugger! And you cant really see the corners. So thankfully it has sensors.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
In 13000 miles so far, it has been more or less faultless. Although - the "depollution system fault" warning light has spontaneously come on twice, but has seemingly equally spontaneously gone off and corrected itself within a day or so and before I got round to having a dealer check. Only problem is that the engine management system goes onto some limited functionality mode when the light comes on which is potentially hazardous given you loose "kickdown" functionality and power when the light comes on - not good if you are overtaking as I was. Just recently I suspect a rear brake is starting to bind.
What's most practical about your car?
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
I like all the quirky guismo's on this car like the heads up display, and directional headlights, but I just love the door bins!
