Standard safety equipment includes intelligent traction control, ESP, ABS with EBD, six airbags and two ISOFIX mounting points on the rear seats. Citroen DS4 practicality is fairly impressive. For a coupe/hatchback it is quite roomy on the inside. It has 359 litres of boot space with the rear seats in place. Use the extra under-floor storage and this capacity expands to 385 litres. Rivals such as the Renault Megane and the Alfa Romeo Guilietta have less loadroom in the boot. Choose the DS4 with the EGS automatic gearbox and the largest cubby in the central console is cooled and can hold four 50-cl bottles.

This cubby also houses a USB port and 12-volt socket. Even though the car has a coupe shape, it has the bonus of having five doors – meaning there’s no need to clamber into the back.
