Citroën e-Berlingo verdict
Should you buy one?
If you can appreciate function over form, the e-Berlingo makes a terrific family car. It’s not terribly expensive by electric car standards yet offers an exceedingly practical interior with enough room for four or more adults.
Electric power won’t suit everyone, especially those that do long distances regularly, and it’s pricier than the combustion-engined Berlingo. Those that would prefer a sharper driving experience are best served by the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer.
What we like
It’s the plentiful space for passengers and luggage we appreciate the most, although its comfortable ride helps it feel relaxing to drive, too. The price isn’t bad for an electric car and it feels nippy enough around town as well.
What we don’t like
Range is our biggest bugbear. It’s fine if you mainly do short journeys, but longer trips will require some planning for charging stops. These will come up far more frequently if you end up on the motorway as opposed to slower roads. It’s also not particularly fun in the bends and can’t hide its van roots inside.
