Should you buy one?

Yes, if you value practicality over style. It’s good value but doesn’t feel cheap, with Citroen putting the money where customers will benefit, namely in the comfort, packaging and a pint-sized electric drivetrain.

The real-world 170-mile range will put off some, even though it’s more than enough distance for the majority of journeys a tiddler like this will make. For drivers pondering going electric for their low-mileage or second car, the e-C3 has much to admire and is well worth the extra over a Dacia Spring or Leapmotor T03.

Is it better than the Renault 5? Well, it’s more fun to drive and has a plusher interior than the e-C3, but is nowhere near as spacious for those in the back. However, there’s no denying the 5’s greater desirability, and that’ll be enough to sway plenty of buyers alone. Those that don’t at least try the e-C3 will be missing out, though.
