Summary
What does this car say about you?
Probably that I like something out of the ordinary, and I dont see any need to waste money on new motor. I like comfort, economy and reliability.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Wife and one adult son do not like driving it. Same son does not like riding it at all (gets sick). I neither know nor care what my friends and neighbours think about it. Its my car and I like it very much.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Probably not. would be lucky indeed to find one in good enough condition, It might be nice to have a car my wife is happy to drive.
What are you likely to buy next?
No plans to buy another car unless this one relly lets me down. It would depend on circumstances and what is available at the time. Maybe something big enough to tow our caravan as an alternative to our 4x4 but still with good economy.

Did you get a good deal and why?
Excellent. Paid cash. Bought from a general repair and maintenance garage who had aquired it froma customer The vendor is a trusted family friend and had overhauled it.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
P reg Peugeot 1.9 diesel 306 had expensive head gasket problem, I'd had it along time and fancied something dieeferent with air con. The Xantia was immediaely available from a trusted garage. It had air con, was big, clean, comfortable and I liked it.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Sharp powered brakes take some getting used to.as can the suspension but I like it. Its great on twisting country roads and an excellent cruiser. The engine is powerful. It's the closest thing to a sports car I've ever owned.
What's it like to park?
Rear view vision not good due to high rear seat and window. Audible parking assistance would be good.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
For the most part only serviceable items. With 150,000 on the clock when I bought it and it's now up to nearly 210,000 miles I have no grumbles. Did have to replace a slide switch on the climate control.
What's most practical about your car?
Never misses a beat; Even with diesel at £1.40 a litre it averages less than 12 pence per mile despite running it most of the time with the climate control on. It's big, comfortable, frugal, powerful and I love it. It is a good tow car too. Still virtually rust free.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Climate control.
